Verona is a village in Grundy County, Illinois, United States. The population was 215 at the 2010 census.The community was established circa 1876 by George D. Smith as a station on the Chicago, Pekin and Southwestern Railroad. Smith named the town for his birthplace Verona, New York.Verona is located at 41°12′56″N 88°30′9″W / 41.21556°N 88.50250°W / 41.21556; -88.50250.According to the 2010 census, Verona has a total area of 0.16 square miles, all land.As of the census of 2000, there were 257 people, 88 households, and 69 families residing in the village. The racial makeup of the village was 94.94% White, 1.56% Native American, 3.11% from other races, and 0.39% from two or more races.
